New construction of a 150-year-old hospital. Move was completed in late 2001/early 2011.
Many outdoor features including accessible gardens, walking paths, meadow, woodland, garden specifically for Alzhiemer's unit, greenhouse, raised beds, many views of nature from indoors. Intergenerational garden program with volunteers from the Waldorf School (local high school) to work with patients in the greenhouse and with raised beds (guided by activity therapy program staff). Also indoor plants in atrium and patient/visitor common areas; patients may have plants in their rooms as well.
Laguna Honda also has an animal farm/petting zoo with goats, ducks, geese, and other animals (farm area also has a duck pond).
